Community Volunteers Needed for Hutton Roof’s Emergency Plan

Hutton Roof Parish Council is putting together a practical, proportionate Emergency Plan to help the village respond quickly and safely during incidents such as severe weather, power cuts, livestock escape, or wildfire risks on the fell. To make this plan genuinely useful, we need a small pool of local volunteers who can be contacted if help is required.

We’re looking for residents who have skills, equipment, or experience that could support the community in an emergency, including:

• Chainsaw users

• 4×4 vehicle owners

• Farmers with tractors or machinery

• Residents with first aid skills

• Anyone willing to check on vulnerable neighbours

• General volunteers who can help with communication, clearing snow, or opening the Village Hall if needed

You don’t need to commit to anything formal — simply being on a list of people who might be able to help is enough. No personal or sensitive information will be published; the plan only records names and general skills so the Parish Council can coordinate quickly if required.
